Wolves owner Steve Morgan insists he has not taken a gamble in making Norwegian Stale Solbakken the club's first foreign manager.

Solbakken's only previous experience of English football was half a dozen games as a player with Wimbledon in the late 1990s. But Morgan is convinced his managerial record with FC Copenhagen, which includes a Champions League win over Manchester United and a draw with Barcelona, means he has the ideal pedigree.

He said: "I felt we needed to bring something fresh, a new approach to the club. In the general sense, any appointment is always a gamble. Whoever you appoint in life, never mind football it's always a gamble. But we don't believe that Stale, just because he is not well known in English football, is a gamble."
