Arsenal and Liverpool transfer target Olivier Giroud has another club chasing his signature – Atletico Madrid.

The La Liga side have joined the Gunners in the race for Ligue 1’s joint top scorer, but Kenny Dalglish was also been connected with a move to bring him to Anfield before he left the club on Wednesday.

The report from talkSPORT claims Madrid will look at signing the France international if they lose top-scorer Radamel Falcao, though Arsene Wenger has been tracking him with a view to pairing him with Emirates Stadium captain Robin van Persie.

The Anfield club had a disappointing season in the Premier League, finishing just eighth, and will be looking to bring in some extra firepower to relieve the scoring woes they had for much of the season.

Bayern Munich have also been strongly linked with Giroud, who is reported to have a release clause in his contract of around £13.5million.

The 25-year-old has scored 21 goals in the French league this season and his side need just a point from their final game to clinch the title ahead of super-rich PSG.
