Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their attempts to sign Inigo Martinez after he declared he was content in Spain.
The Gunners and Blues were both interested in a move for the Real Sociedad defender, though the Anfield club had also been monitoring his progress, according to a report from talkSPORT.
It now looks as though Arsene Wenger will miss out on his target and if the comments had not put any potential move to bed, the uncertainty over who will be in charge at Stamford Bridge and the departure of Kenny Daglish from Merseyside will have done for it.
“I am very comfortable here and want to stay for many years. Interest from the Premier League? I do not think anything of it. Everyone does their best every year and I know where I want to be for many years - with Real,” he said.
The Spain Under-21 international has been impressive this year, breaking into the first team and becoming a regular and scoring three goals.
A ball-playing centre-back, Martinez would suit the mould of a Wenger signing and Arsenal have had problems with fitness and form in that area for some time.
