Barcelona have joined Real Madrid in pursuit of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, it has been claimed, and the Catalan club have gone so far as to make an informal approach.
The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the finest defenders in the Premier League over the past two seasons, and his contribution was vital to ensure Chelsea progressed to the final of the Champions League.
Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has clearly been impressed with the performances of the Serbia international, and Ivanovic confirmed on Sunday that Real Madrid are interested in signing him.
But, should Real formalise their interest in Ivanovic this summer, it would appear they may be contested by great rivals Barcelona in pursuit of his signature.
According to the Daily Mail, Barca have made an enquiry for Ivanovic as the Catalan giants begin life without Pep Guardiola at the Nou Camp.
Ivanovic was particularly impressive against Barcelona during the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea, and it comes as no great surprise Tito Vilanova is interested in acquiring the services of the Serbian.
