Barton makes England boast again

Joey Barton has claimed he would "walk" into the England squad - if he was better behaved - before pouring scorn on Jordan Henderson's call-up for the European Championship.

QPR midfielder Barton, 29, will serve a 12-match ban at the start of next season after his sending-off against Manchester City on the final day of last season. He elbowed Carlos Tevez before reacting to the red card by kicking Sergio Aguero and aiming a headbutt at Vincent Kompany.

England have lost several midfielders for Euro 2012, including key men Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry and Jack Wilshere. Liverpool's Henderson was called into the squad as an injury replacement and Barton, who won one cap against Spain in 2007, wrote on Twitter: "Why are people giving me loads [of abuse] about England saying 'cant get in squad etc'."
