Chelsea pulled off another transfer coup by beating Arsenal and Manchester City to the signing of Charly Musonda.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger’s Gunners were in talks with the Anderlecht starlet dubbed the ‘new Eden Hazard’, but he opted for Stamford Bridge in the end.
Roberto Mancini was reportedly keen to bring the 15-year-old to the Etihad Stadium and had Musonda, along with his two younger brothers Tika and Lamisha, watched regularly by scouts.
The report claims that Arsenal looked to be favourite’s to sign the Belgium youth internationals last month, but Roman Abramovich signalled Blues officials to step in and they chose to move to west London.
It comes just a week or so after Chelsea managed to convince another young Belgian star, Lille playmaker Eden Hazard, to switch to Stamford Bridge ahead of their Premier League rivals in a £32million deal.
Charly Jr, his father was a former Anderlecht player and Zambia international, has been said to resemble Hazard’s style and is considered to be one of the most highly rated youngsters in Europe.
