Manchester United target Kwadwo Asamoah is set for showdown talks over his future with Udinese this week.

The Ghanaian midfielder has been on Sir Alex Ferguson’s radar for some time and will have to vie with Juventus for the signature of the £12million-rated man, according to talkSPORT.

The Old Trafford club have already finalised the signing of Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa, the report claims the Red Devils boss is looking for another addition in the defensive midfield area.

Asamoah is a combative holding player and has been impressive over the past two seasons, in which Udinese have managed to qualify for the Champions League qualifying stages.

The report claims the 23-year-old has spoken of a preference for Premier League football and United will be hoping to exploit this should he and his club decide on a transfer.

Asamoah is currently away with the Ghana aide on international duty, but he will reportedly fly back to Italy on Tuesday evening for the talks.
