Chelsea are being linked with a £20 million summer move for Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic.
The 22-year-old Montenegro international was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, with both Liverpool and Arsenal said to be courting the player last November before he penned a new deal with the Viola.
However, reports in Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claim an official bid is expected from the Blues today (Thursday), with £20 million the reported fee set to be placed on the table.
The news comes as a deal for Porto striker Hulk continues to stall, with the Brazilian no closer to completing a move to Stamford Bridge.
With a contract until 2016 in Serie ‘A’, the transfer fee is understandably high, but after Fiorentina slumped to a 15th place finish last season, Jovetic will be without European football if he stays at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The move could be Roberto Di Matteo’s first as permanent manager of Chelsea, having been appointed on a full-time basis yesterday (Wednesday).
