Arsenal have reportedly agreed a £12million deal for Montpellier forward Olivier Giroud.
BBC Sport are reporting that Arsene Wenger is intending to play Giroud in a front three with Gunners captain Robin van Persie and other new signing Lukas Podolski.
Giroud, who won the Ligue 1 Golden Boot with 21 goals last season, is currently at Euro 2012 as part of the France squad and the deal will be completed following the tournament and a medical.
The Daily Mail reports that the deal will be for four years, worth £45,000 a week and is being brought in as a replacement for Morrocan flop Marouane Chamakh, who is likely to be sold this summer, but not Van Persie.
The report also suggests that the Emirates Stadium club will now turn their attention to convincing the Dutch striker to sign a new three-year contract worth £130,000 a week and with a £5million loyalty bonus.
Both Arsenal and Van Persie agreed to stay silent on the situation after talks earlier in the year failed to bring about an agreement.
However, Holland’s early exit from Euro 2012 means the 28-year-old will now have more time to concentrate on the negotiations.
