Spain aiming to rewrite history books

Vicente del Bosque has challenged Spain to "change history" when they face France for a place in the European Championship semi-finals on Saturday night.

France have never lost to Spain in a competitive fixture and were the last team to eliminate them from a major tournament at the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Del Bosque, though, intends to set the record straight at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk.

"Everyone thinks we are favourites because we won the Euros four years ago and the World Cup two years ago, but there is evidence that France are better in competitive matches," he said. "But we have to think about the present and not the past. We all have to see if we can change history."
