PSG eye bid for Chelsea legend

French side Paris Saint-Germain are weighing up a sensational £8million bid for Chelsea captain John Terry, according to the Daily Mail.

The Ligue 1 outfit, who are managed by former-Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti, are eager to strengthen their squad for a Champions League tilt next season, and the 31-year-old Chelsea defender is thought to be one of their top targets.

PSG were linked with a £45million bid for AC Milan and Brazil centre-back Thiago Silva, but they are believed to have turned their attentions to Terry after failing to agree a deal with the Serie 'A' giants.

Terry enjoyed an excellent season last year, as Chelsea won the FA Cup and Champions League, and despite England's quarter-final exit, the Blues defender won plaudits for his fine performances in Ukraine and Poland.

PSG have money to spend following their Qatari takeover, and are close to signing Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi for around £21million. But the club's sporting director, Leonardo, has played down reports of an imminent bid for the Chelsea star. He said: "Terry is close to Carlo Ancelotti, but that is all."

The French club are flexing their muscles in the transfer market, and have been linked with a number of world-class strikers, including Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain and Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

But they are also keen to add a centre-half, and after signing Terry's ex-teammate Alex from Stamford Bridge in January, Ancelotti could look to reunite the pair at the heart of the Parisian club's defence next season.
