Stuart Pearce has defended his decision to leave David Beckham out of his 18 man squad for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

However, Pearce suggested Beckham's Olympic dream may not be over yet, revealing he is considering placing Beckham on his standby list.

Elsewhere, Andre Villas-Boas is set to be confirmed as the new Tottenham manager, joining the club on a three-year contract.
