Scottish Football League president Jim Ballantyne has called for cool heads as member clubs prepare to decide the fate of newco Rangers.

The SFL board are meeting on Thursday to discuss the crisis facing Scottish football ahead of an anticipated vote next Thursday over the Ibrox club's application.

Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan on Wednesday night claimed the game faces a "slow, lingering death" if the newco club are not admitted to the Irn-Bru First Division following their rejection by the Scottish Premier League.
