Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey was coy when asked about the future of club captain Robin van Persie, at Team GB's Preparation Camp in Loughborough on Sunday.
The 21-year-old admits that neither he or any of his Gunners team-mates know how the situation with the want-away striker will pan out this summer, after the Dutchman revealed in a carefully worded statement on his website that he would not be signing a new deal to stay at the Emirates Stadium.
"There is no need for me to get involved in that," explained Ramsey. "I don't know and we as players don't know what is happening so we will just have to wait and see what happens."
Van Persie still has 12 months to run on his existing deal, but Arsenal may look to cash-in this summer, or risk losing the Dutchman on a free transfer next year.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep hold of the Gunners' leading marksman, and has tried to ease the goalscoring burden on his talisman with the summer signings of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud - players that Ramsey is convinced will succeed in the Premier League.
"They are great additions to the squad," he continued. "Hopefully they can do their bit for the team and hopefully we can have a big season."
