Double delight for Beckham in Galaxy win

David Beckham scored with two spectacular strikes as LA Galaxy emerged victorious against Portland Timbers in stunning 5-3 encounter at Jeld-Wen Field.

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd opened the scoring inside three minutes to send the home crowd into raptures, but Beckham struck back in the 19th minute with a moment of magic from distance.

Having received the ball some 35-yards from goal, Beckham opened out onto his trusty right boot and curled a sumptuous dipping effort into the top corner past the outstretched arm of Troy Perkins in the Timbers goal.

Beckham got on the scoresheet once again only five minutes later to provide Galaxy with the initiative - this time stroking home in trademark fashion from a dead ball some five yards outside the Timbers penalty area.

Only three minutes later and the Los Angeles side were 3-1 thanks to a penalty from captain Landon Donovan, before Robbie Keane added another in the 28th minute to make it three goals in four minutes for the Galaxy.

Kosuke Kimura ensured the scoring wasn't over in the first half as he added a second for the home side shortly before the break, but Keane scored his second after the interval before Boyd netted a consolation for Portland.
