Ajax have reportedly opened talks with two clubs regarding the potential sale of highly-rated midfielder Christian Eriksen, and the Denmark international is desperate to find out if Manchester United are one of the interested parties.

Eriksen is one of the most well regarded young talents currently operating in European football and, hence, the 20-year-old has been frequently linked with a move away from the Amsterdam Arena.

Manchester United have long been linked with the fleet-footed playmaker, and Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed his admiration for Eriksen prior to his side's meeting with Ajax in last season's Europa League.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Eriksen's time in Amsterdam is coming to an end after two clubs opened negotiations with Ajax, and Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg are reported to have registered their interest.

The other club in for Eriksen is yet to be revealed but, it is claimed, Eriksen has his fingers crossed that it is Manchester United who want to sign him, as he is keen to move to Old Trafford.

Eriksen will meet with former Arsenal winger Marc Overmars, who is now Ajax's director of football, to find out if United are in for his signature, and the youngster could leave the Dutch club for £20 million before the start of the new season.
