NBA superstars hail 'world’s best' Messi

NBA superstars LeBron James and Kobe Bryant have waded into the debate over who is the best footballer in the world, with both Basketball players picking Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi.

The American duo are currently preparing for this summer’s Olympic Games in London, and were on form in a thrashing of Team GB in a warm-up match on Thursday night.

James has a special interest in ‘soccer’ as a minority shareholder in Liverpool, but the Miami Heat scorer would love to have Messi in the Reds line-up after admitting he thinks he’ll become the best player of all-time.

"Messi is the best player in the world. And, if he is not already, he will be the best player of all time,” James said in an interview with EFE.

LA Lakers legend Bryant agreed with his ‘Dream Team’ colleague, revealing that he’d seen Messi in Barcelona training session and recognised the quality on show.

"Messi is the best ... the best! Once I had the opportunity to see a Barcelona training session and I really enjoyed it,” he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo is regarded as the sole competitor to Messi with regards to who is the best player in the world, and the pair will go head-to-head for this year’s FIFA Ballon d’Or.
