Walcott not unsettled by exit rumours

Published Add your comment

Theo Walcott has denied he has become unsettled by speculation about his future as talks with Arsenal regarding a new contract continue.

The 23-year-old is out of contract next summer and Walcott's representatives have been in discussions with the Gunners about extending his stay beyond the terms of his current deal.

However, Walcott's wage demands have reportedly provided somewhat of a stumbling block in negotiations, which has led to speculation that he could be sold this summer.

Chelsea and Liverpool have both been linked with Walcott, with the former reported to have had an offer in the region of £25 million rebuffed only last week.

Walcott, however, says he has not become distracted by rumours, and is happy to let his agent to talk to Arsenal officials for the time being.

"Not at all because I didn't have a clue about any other clubs, anything," Walcott told Sky Sports News when asked if he had become unsettled.

"I'm an honest guy. I like to get on with my job. I've got to work on pre-season, I don't want any distractions.

"Like I say, my agent and the club will continue to talk and when there's something to know I'll get involved."

Walcott has made 220 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club from Southampton in 2006, and has scored 42 goals.
