Juventus could drop Van Persie bid

Published Add your comment

Juventus are considering a bid for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko and giving up the chase for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie. The Serie A champions have become frustrated at not being able to come close to an agreement with the Gunners for their captain.

Sao Paulo vice-president, Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes, has insisted his club may yet come to an agreement with Manchester United for exciting Brazil winger Lucas Moura. Sir Alex Ferguson publicly stated an interest in the 19-year-old earlier this week and United are believed to have had an opening bid rejected.

Spurs have joined Liverpool in the race for Swansea City's Joe Allen; the Anfield club have been keen on him since recruiting former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers, but now Andre Villas-Boas has identified the £15million-rated Welshman as a possible replacement for Luka Modric.

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani could be ready to make a switch to Chelsea after his wife was mugged in Naples. Maria Soledad travelled to London to join her husband, who is with the Uruguay squad for the Olympics, while his agent hinted the couple were concerned for their safety in the Italian city.
