Roberto di Matteo and David Luiz have welcomed new signing Oscar to Stamford Bridge, with both men backing the Blues’ new recruit to shine.
The former Internacional midfielder attracted interest from Tottenham before Chelsea swooped, with the west London club announcing the deal on the same day as the 20-year-old helped Brazil to a 3-2 win over Egypt in their opening fixture of the Olympic football tournament.
Di Matteo believes Chelsea have pulled off a real coup in landing Oscar, and backed the talented youngster to thrive in the Premier League.
"He is a fantastic player, one of the youngest to push through to the Brazilian national team and he will be a fantastic signing for us," the Italian said.
"Oscar is a very exciting young talent, a creative midfield player who scores goals. He will add a lot of options and solutions for us in midfield.”
Luiz echoed the thoughts of Di Matteo, and revealed he told his countryman all about life at Stamford Bridge before he signed on the dotted line.
'I spoke to him before he signed, I told him Chelsea is a great club and that it is a big opportunity in his professional life, to show his football to the world,” he told Chelsea's official site.
‘Chelsea is one of the top five teams in the world and I think it was the best choice for him.'
The defender also believes the fact that Chelsea can boast a host of Brazilian and Portuguese-speaking players will also help him settle in at the club.
“Oscar will adapt quickly, he has a lot of Brazilians here at Chelsea which will make it easy for him,' he added. 'We will all help him to adapt as quickly as possible to London and the Premier League.”
