Ashley Cole is a surprise target for Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Cole has just one year left on his current deal at Chelsea and is reportedly demanding £200,000-per year, a figure that is putting Blues officials off from offering the 31-year-old a new contract.

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to hold talks with Cole soon – but now PSG are willing to enter the race for his signature and test the west London’s club willingness to hang on to their left-back.

PSG, under former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, could put forward an attractive proposition to Cole, and are more than capable of matching his wage demands should their interest become concrete in the coming weeks.

Cole is said to be unhappy that an offer from Chelsea has yet to be put on the table, although the left-back tweeted last month about his love for the club and stated his desire to stay put.

Chelsea have let a handful of their ageing stars leave the club this summer having let the likes of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou run down their deals and depart for free.

This summer the club have bought extensively as they go about overhauling their squad – and there is a chance they don’t see Cole as part of their long-term plans, although they could offer a short-term deal and receive a fee in a few years’ time.
