Jose Mourinho has cast doubt over Nuri Sahin’s potential loan switch to Arsenal after revealing he would be more than happy for the Turkish international to stay put next season - but the Portuguese coach wants the midfielder to make his mind up over his future sooner rather than later.

Sahin has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks after Mourinho admitted it could be in his best interest to leave the Bernabeu, with the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder initially linked with a move to Tottenham as part of the deal that would see Luka Modric head in the opposite direction.

However Sahin appeared unwilling to make the move to White Hart Lane, and is instead keen on a loan move to Arsenal.

A deal is said to be progressing but is far from done, and while Mourinho says Sahin is free to leave this summer, the Portuguese coach insisted he is willing to keep hold of him as well.

'The point is that he's a young boy who wants to play every match," the Real manager said.

"He wants to play to be happy and in Real Madrid with Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira, Lassana Diarra, Esteban Granero and Mesut Ozil, the situation is not easy.

"Real Madrid is very difficult. It is not an easy club, because we demand a lot,” he said after Real Madrid’s 5-1 win over LA Galaxy.

"We have great players and when you don't start well, it's difficult to do it.

"If he stays, he's not a problem for me. He's one more solution. We are leaving the situation in his hands.

"Decide what you want to decide, to be happy. If you decide to leave we're going to help you to leave.

"If you decide to stay, we're going to support you and try and succeed this season.

Yesterday Galatasary revealed they were close to finalising a deal for Sahin, and the Turkish club still remain hopeful they can pip the Gunners.
