Premier League clubs on alert – Kaka for sale
Premier League transfer news: Kaka available for summer switch from Real Madrid
When Brazilian superstar Kaka opted against a £100 million move to the Premier League back in January 2009, it appeared unlikely that the attacking midfielder would ever grace these shores.
The 30-year-old decided Real Madrid was a better fit than Manchester City, and decided to leave AC Milan for Spain instead of England.
Three-and-a-half years on, and the former Sao Paulo starlet appears to have reached a crossroads in La Liga, with manager Jose Mourinho willing to let the player leave his club – for the right price of course.
“If Kaka stays I would be happy and I am happy if he wants to go. In football it is normal that the players play where they want,” manager Jose Mourinho told Spanish newspaper AS.
“He is a very good footballer and prepared to be at his maximum level. If he decides to stay, then perfect. If he goes, that's perfect too but we are not going to give him away for free. Those that want him have to pay for him.”
‘The Special One’ is a master at working the transfer market, and his comments are a clear indication that Los Blancos will keep hold of Kaka if they don’t get the price they are looking for.
Speculation is rife about the figure Mourinho will be looking for, but with Luka Modric on the club’s radar for a figure in the region of £30-to-£35 million, the 82-cap international certainly won’t be cheap.
A former World Player of the Year, Kaka showed he’s still got all the attributes to be a star in the 5-1 friendly win against AC Milan last night, creating two of his side’s goals in the match at Yankee Stadium.
Milan are one of the European teams thought to be keen on the player, and there were suggestions in the media pre-match that discussions could take place between the two parties in America over a move back to the San Siro.
However, an agreement is yet to be reached, meaning the elite in the Premier League still have a fantastic chance of attempting to negotiate a deal for the player.
