Premier League transfer latest: August 22

There is still plenty of business to be conducted with little over a week remaining of the 2012 summer transfer window, as a number of transfer problems remain unsolved.

Chelsea are still in need of a striker to replace Didier Drogba, Arsenal have yet to compensate for the loss of Alex Song and Tottenham have been particularly quiet over the summer months.

Manchester City have also yet to strike a significant blow in the market, while no club in the Premier League is likely to rest easy before the window shuts on August 31.

- Chelsea and Manchester City are both keen on Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.


- Bologna winger Gaston Ramirez will not be joining Southampton, which leaves the door open for Liverpool and Tottenham.

- Liverpool, Tottenham and Sunderland are all in the running to sign Manchester City's Adam Johnson.

Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.

- Fiorentina want to end Dimitar Berbatov's Manchester United misery.
