Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin has reportedly completed a medical ahead of a season-long loan move to Arsenal.
Sky Sports Germany claim the Turkey international has agreed terms, as have the Gunners and Real, and the deal will be confirmed at some point in the next 24 hours.
Sahin has been left out of the squad for Real’s Super Cup El Clasico clash with Barcelona on Thursday night, along with Kaka, Carvalho and Pepe – the former two are also reportedly close to leaving Santiago Bernabeu, while Pepe is injured.
The Emirates Stadium club will need the deal to be confirmed by Friday afternoon if the 24-year-old is to be available to Arsene Wenger for Sunday’s trip to Stoke City in their second Premier League fixture of the season.
Liverpool were reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Sahin, but the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona sparked further reports that Arsenal’s initial interest had become more concrete and the player preferred a move to London due to the possibility of playing Champions League football.
He joined the La Liga club after impressing in Borussia Dortmund’s title-winning side two seasons ago, but a combination of injury and a settled side meant opportunities have been at a premium.
