Chelsea v Newcastle: Match Preview

Roberto Di Matteo reveals John Terry will miss the match against Newcastle with a neck injury.

The Chelsea skipper was hurt during the Blues game against Reading, and Di Matteo claimed the England international will not take any part against Alan Pardew’s Newcastle.

Alongside Terry on the sidelines is new signing Marko Marin. The Germany international remains out of action, although David Luiz is expected to be fit after missing the Reading match.

“We have a few players with little niggly injuries from the last game,” said Di Matteo.

“Marin is still not going to be available and JT is struggling for tomorrow as well he has a neck injury from Wednesday. So he might not be available for tomorrow. He will be out.”

Other than John Terry, the Chelsea boss should be able to pick from a full-strength squad. Eden Hazard should keep his place in the starting lineup after a blistering start to his Chelsea career, while fellow new-boy Oscar could be handed his first start.

Newcastle could be missing three key players. Alan Pardew will make late checks on captain Fabricio Coloccini, Demba and Cheick Tiote.
