Reading squeezed into the third round of the Capital One Cup after edging Peterborough 3-2 following a frenzied first half at the Madejski Stadium.

The 7,262 crowd were treated to four goals in seven minutes during a spell that saw the npower Championship side take the lead on two occasions through Paul Taylor and Lee Tomlin.

Twice Reading equalised, with Pavel Pogrebnyak and Chris Gunter on target, maintaining a frenetic pace that eventually subsided. What proved to be the winner in the 38th minute was an own goal from Nathaniel Knight-Percival - the last of several defensive howlers that would have had both managers peering from behind their hands.
