The Champions League group stage draw charts a path for the Premier League clubs to the final at Wembley.

For Manchester United and especially Chelsea, the memory of lifting the trophy will be fresh, but for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, today begins the first step on what they hope becomes their first ever Champions League winning campaign.

Since the competition's inception, the Champions League has pitted Europe's best against one another, and very often, English teams battle their way to the latter rounds of the competition.

Last year was the exception, as Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal all exited early, but Chelsea - the sole remaining Premier League representative - grafted their way to a famous first title.
