Brendan Rodgers may allow Pepe Reina to leave Liverpool in the winter transfer window, if the goalkeeper fails to adapt to the club's new system by January.

Reina has established himself as one of the finest 'keepers in the Premier League since joining the Reds in 2005, but could reportedly be chopped by Rodgers this season.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the Liverpool manager has set a New Year deadline for Reina to improve his performance and demonstrate he is able to fit with the new style of play at Anfield.

Rodgers wants a goalkeeper who is comfortable passing the ball out from the back and receiving passes from defenders when under pressure.

The Liverpool boss is reportedly unsure if Reina, 30, is the player to execute his plans and has identified Swansea custodian Michel Vorm as a possible replacement for the Spaniard.

Reina is currently Liverpool's unquestioned No.1, with Brad Jones and Alexander Doni not providing a realistic threat to his position.
