Fernando Torres says he has become a more complete player since joining Chelsea from Liverpool, having added the ability to provide goals alongside his knack for scoring them.

The 27-year-old signed for Chelsea for a record-breaking £50 million in January 2011, and endured a profligate start to his career at Stamford Bridge.

Torres was, however, often praised for his ability to bring others into the game and, although he was not scoring, Roberto di Matteo was quick to highlight the Spaniard's importance to the team.

Now the two are working in tandem as Torres finds the net with increasing regularity while still providing for his teammates, and the former Anfield hero believes he has improved during his time in west London.

"I learned so much about myself last season and feel better for that experience now,” he explained.

"I’m playing much more for my club and you can see that I’m starting to score more goals and play better.

"I am a different type of striker than in the past. I created a lot of chances for my team-mates last season and it means my game is more complete at this point in my career.

"To play in a new Chelsea team and still have something to aim for with Spain is exciting for me."

Torres scored only 12 goals during his first 18 months with Chelsea, but has already found the net three times in four appearances for the Blues this season.

He also claimed the Golden Boot during Spain's successful Euro 2012 campaign, and is playing with a confidence unseen since his Liverpool pomp.
