Chelsea’s 100 per cent record is at an end as QPR held the Blues to a goalless draw in a niggly affair at Loftus Road.

The tension was raised before kick-off when, as expected, Hoops defender Anton Ferdinand refused to shake the hands of Chelsea captain John Terry and Ashley Cole.

Mark Hughes’ side set out their stall early and were content to defend deep, but were let off just after half an hour when Shaun Wright-Phillips looked to have brought down Eden Hazard in the box, but referee Andre Marriner waved away Blues’ protests.

It was a fortunate let off for QPR, who had new signing Julio Cesar to thank for keeping the score level in the first half, as the Brazilian made smart stops from Fernando Torres and Eden Hazard.

Bobby Zamora missed a great chance to win the game late one but could not convert, but the home side will have content with a point.

Both Terry and Ferdinand were limping at the end of the game and there is no doubt about which of the two was more satisfied.

Roberto di Matteo’s side will be disappointed at not breaking down their opponents, but they remain top of the Premier League for another week.
