Manchester City playmaker David Silva has warned his team-mates their visit could reawaken the "beast" of Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants head into their eagerly-anticipated Champions League clash with City at the Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday night amid a poor run of form. Jose Mourinho's Primera Division champions have won just one of their opening four games this term but Silva fears a big European night might provide the spark to change that.

The Spaniard said: "It is clear that, when everything is going well, they play with more confidence. When they have doubts, it is difficult. But maybe it is more dangerous because they are not at a good moment and we could awaken the beast in them. We have to be careful - they are a world-class team."
