Emmanuel Adebayor will miss Tottenham's Europa League tie against Lazio on Thursday with a hamstring complaint.

The Togolese striker is still waiting for his first Tottenham start since making his move to White Hart Lane from Manchester City permanent in the summer.

Adebayor enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell in north London under Harry Redknapp, and despite the departure of the Spurs boss earlier this summer, the Togolese frontman decided to make the £5m move.

But Andre Villas-Boas has preferred Jermain Defoe in a lone striker role so far this season, with Gylfi Sigurdsson just behind as an attacking midfielder.

And Villas-Boas will not have to chose between Adebayor and Defoe on Thursday. The 28-year-old has injured his hamstring and has been ruled out of Tottenham's first Europa League tie of the season, although he may return for the weekend's home match against QPR.

France international Hugo Lloris could also make his debut for Spurs this week. The former-Lyon keeper made it clear he was unhappy playing second fiddle to first choice Brad Friedel and Andre Villas-Boas may give Lloris the opportunity to impress against the Italians.

Scott Parker, Heurelho Gomes, Jake Livermore, Younes Kaboul and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are all out as well.
