Lazio boss makes Gareth Bale plans

Lazio boss Vladamir Petkovic admits his side face a tough test stopping Gareth Bale in tonight's Europa League match.

The Italian side face Tottenham this evening at White Hart Lane, and the Lazio manager is wary of the north London side's formidable midfield.

New signing Mousa Dembele has settled quickly into the Spurs lineup, replacing the departed Luka Modric, and Bale continued his fine early season form with a goal against Reading on Sunday.

In his pre-match press conference, Petkovic said: "I think not how we can stop Gareth Bale, but how we can make life difficult for him.

"We will respect the opponents, but try to take the initiative so we'll neutralise Tottenham's style of football by imposing our own."

Bale has a strong reputation in Italian football, following his performances against Inter Milan in the Champions League two seasons ago.

And the Wales winger recently revealed he never considered leaving Spurs in the summer, despite a change of manager and reported interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Following tonight's match, Andre Villas-Boas will prepare his team for the visit of London rivals Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

Villas-Boas picked up his first Spurs win last Sunday, a 3-1 victory over Reading and the Portuguese boss will be looking to continue the momentum this evening.
