Most embarrassing own goal ever - part ii

Published Add your comment

Two weeks ago, GiveMeFootball provided a contender for the most embarrassing own goal in football history.

But, following last night's Europa League group game between Young Boys and Liverpool, defender Juhani Ojala has thrown his unfortunate hat into the ring.

The defender was well positioned to defend a Stewart Downing cross, but when a teammate tried to head the ball clear, it cannoned back off Ojala and flew past goalkeeper Marco Wolfli.

You can watch this comical own goal from the 5-3 win for Liverpool at the top of the page.

And, in case you'd forgotten about Brazilian stopper Michel Alves inexplicably putting the ball into his own net, we've added that below as well.

Having made a basic save to start with, Alves appeared to knee the ball out of his hands and into the back of the net. Only he will ever know how it happened.

Watch it below and decide which is the most embarrassing own goal...
