Chelsea star nearing exit
Chelsea transfer news: Frank Lampard is closing in on a move to LA Galaxy
Frank Lampard is reportedly closing in on a summer move to LA Galaxy as the midfielder's contract with Chelsea nears expiration.
The 34-year-old's current deal runs until June next year and Lampard will be free to talk to other clubs from January, should he not agree a new contract before.
Lampard has been linked with a move to the MLS for some time, but would now appear to be edging closer to joining LA Galaxy next season.
According to The Sun, the Chelsea star's representative Steve Kutner was spotted watching the Galaxy against Toronto on Saturday, sparking further speculation that a deal is being discussed.
Galaxy can already boast former Premier League stars David Beckham and Tim Cahill among their number, and are keen to bring Lampard from Stamford Bridge to Los Angeles.
"We want the best players from around the world and Frank is top of our list," a Galaxy source told The Sun.
"Getting Frank would send a message around the world that the MLS is serious."
Lampard has made 566 appearances during 11 years as Chelsea player, scoring 188 goals during his time with the club.
