It turns out for once that Sky's billing of 'Super Sunday' was apt. Two games, Liverpool v Manchester United and Manchester City v Arsenal were entertaining enough to keep football fans happy for seven Sunday hours straight that could have been spent wasting time by doing things such as visiting friends or paying attention to loved ones.
Saturday was hardly a snoozefest either. In the Premier League, Southampton, the only team in the Premier League to not pick up a single point in their first four games put four past Aston Villa while later on Barcelona maintained their 100% start to La Liga with a nervy win over Granada.
Elsewhere in Europe and farther afield there was plenty of football action - and luckily for you GMF has done all the leg work by collating all the very best goals from the past two days in one place. Enjoy.
Xavi v Granada
Xavi saved Barcelona's skins with a fine strike just three minutes before time to ensure Barcelona's perfect start.
Leandro Damiao v Bahia
Leandro Damiao was a transfer target for Tottenham over the summer, and on this form it's easy to see why.
Hulk v Krylya Sovotev
Hulk showed why Zenit parted with so much money for him with a stunning strike to help his new side earn a draw.
Rafael v Liverpool
Rafael helped pull Manchester United level against Liverpool with a fine curling effort from the edge of the area.
Steven Gerrard v Manchester United
Despite going down to 10 men, Liverpool went 1-0 up against Manchester United, with captain fantastic at it again.
Laurent Koscielny v Manchester City
Koscielny slammed home his strike from just inside the area to earn Arsenal a well-deserved point.
Steven Fletcher v West Ham
Fletcher continued his recent rich vein of form with a brilliant touch and shot to put Sunderland 1-0 up.
