Aarhus striker Aron Johannsson says he is flattered to be linked with a move to Arsenal, but is not prepared to get carried away with speculation suggesting he is a target for the north Londoners

The 21-year-old has been in sensational form so far this season, having scored ten goals in his last five appearances in the Danish SAS Ligaen.

This potency in front of goal has led to reports Johannsson has caught the attention of Arsene Wenger, although the player's agent has since dismissed suggestions Arsenal have shown any serious interest.

Johannsson has now also cooled reports that the Gunners are pursuing his signature, but says he is pleased that a club of Arsenal's stature are being linked with him.

"I saw the news in The Sun, but I do not think you should believe everything they write. But of course it's nice to be associated with such a great club," Johannsson told sn.dk.

Should Johannsson move to the Emirates Stadium, the Icelandic would compete for a place in Wenger's squad alongside the likes of summer acquisitions Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.
