Former-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti reveals he rates Ashley Cole as the "best left-back in the world" - the biggest hint yet that the Paris St Germain manager could try and tempt the England star to France.
Cole's Chelsea contract expires at the end of this season, and although Roberto Di Matteo is reportedly hopeful the two parties can agree a deal, from January, the 31-year-old defender will be free to speak to overseas clubs.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich also made it clear this week that he would only offer players over 30 one-year contract extensions - Cole is thought to favour more long-term security.
Speculation has linked the England left-back with a number of clubs, but ex-Chelsea managers Jose Mourinho - at Real Madrid - and Carlo Ancelotti - are the thought to be leading the chase.
And it appears, Ancelotti is a huge fan of the Chelsea fullback.
When asked about a possible move for Cole, Ancelotti told ESPN STAR Sports: "This is normal because a lot of players are linked with Paris St Germain. The newspapers said that 100 players could come here.
"Ashley Cole is the best left-back in the world at the moment. For this season, we have a very good squad by next year, I don't know what is going on."
PSG lie second in the Ligue 1 table behind Marseille, although their new signings have settled quickly in the French capital.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic in particular has looked impressive, the former-AC Milan striker is the French league's current top scorer with seven goals in seven games. One-time Chelsea target Lucas Moura joins PSG in January after agreeing a deal with Ancelotti's side in the summer.
