Roma general manager Franco Baldini, former No.2 to Fabio Capello during his time as England boss, will reportedly join Tottenham to take up a similar role to the one he occupies at the Stadio Olimpico.
Baldini left the England set-up for Roma following the successful qualification for Euro 2012 and prior to Capello's resignation in the lead up to the competition.
However, it would appear the Italian's spell in Rome is set to come to an end as he closes in on a move to White Hart Lane to work with Andre Villas-Boas.
According to Corriere dello Sport, a deal is done and the 51-year-old will join Spurs as their new sporting director next season - a role not often favoured in the Premier League and with a limited history of success.
Spurs had previously employed Damien Comolli in the role from 2005 to 2008, but the Frenchman departed along with Juande Ramos before the appointment of Harry Redknapp.
Comolli later took up a similar position with Liverpool following a spell with St Etienne, but left Anfield following the acquisition of a number of expensive flops.
