Ex-Liverpool winger open to Premier League return

Former Liverpool winger Harry Kewell has admitted he is open to a return to the Premier League.

The veteran Australian, who enjoyed spells with Leeds United and Liverpool during 12 years in English football, has just completed a season with A-League outfit Melbourne Storm.

However, the 34-year-old - who moved to Anfield on a free transfer from Elland Road in 2003 - is now ready to leave his homeland once again in search of first-team football back where he made his name.

"If something comes up and it is the right thing for me I will have a look at it. But I am happy to move on with a different career," the 58-cap international told SkySports.

Kewell enjoyed success with the Reds, lifting the Champions League and FA Cup in back-to-back seasons with Liverpool.

That said, the Australian is well-remembered for coming off in the European final against AC Milan, with injury preventing Kewell from playing a major part in the 3-3 draw and proceeding penalty shootout victory for Liverpool.

Injuries have always been a concern during the talented player's career, and that could perhaps explain why Kewell is yet to receive an offer to extend his career in England.

"None at all, it has been difficult when you have been out of the country for a while but that is how it goes in football," he concluded.
