Former Liverpool and Manchester United star Paul Ince has reportedly been pushing through a move for his son Thomas to join the Old Trafford side.

The Sun are reporting that Ince Snr telephoned the Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson about a move for the 20-year-old and that the Scot is interested in signing him as early as January.

The young winger would be following in the footsteps of his father by pulling on the red of both Liverpool and United, having moved to current club Blackpool after failing to make the grade at Anfield.

Ince Jnr’s current boss at Blackpool, Ian Holloway, labelled reports “rubbish” earlier this week, but the latest report claims Paul’s intervention has made the difference in what could be a deal worth £4million.

The England Under-21 star signed a two-year deal last a summer, which is set to expire at the end of this season, so the Seasiders may find it difficult to refuse offers from interested parties in January if the alternative is losing him for nothing six months later.

Ince has started the season in fine form, finding the net six times in just eight matches.
