Tottenham are ready to resume their pursuit of summer transfer window target Willian in January, according to TMW.

Spurs were reportedly close to landing Willian from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer but failed to come to an agreement with the Ukrainian club, before the window slammed shut.

Now, according to TMW the north London club are ready to launch another bid for the 24-year-old who has admitted he is desperate for a move to the Premier League having previously been courted by Chelsea.

According to reports last month Spurs in fact agreed a €30 million fee for Wiliian – which would have made him the club’s most expensive player - only to see the move break down over a disagreement about the schedule of payments.

Willian put in a sterling performance against Juventus in the Champions League last night as Shakhtar secured a 1-1 draw against the Italian club.

Back in August he revealed his frustrated at not being able to land a move to either Chelsea – who chased him while Andre Villas-Boas was in charge at Stamford Bridge - or the Portuguese coach’s current club, Tottenham.

"I have a proposal, but it is complicated because of the board," he said two months ago. "Here are many players in the same position, most Brazilian. They buy and do not let go. That's the problem. Everyone knows that I want out, I'm here for five years, won many titles, so I hope you respect my will."
