Liverpool starlet Suso has revealed that he doesn’t have idols in the world of football - but he does admire some of the biggest players in the game.
The 18-year-old Spaniard was speaking to Marca in an interview last week, and after confessing that he supports La Liga champions Real Madrid, he gave the names of four players who he likes the look of – and all four ply their trade away from England.
“I don’t have idols, but there are many players that I admire, such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso and Andres Iniesta,” he told the newspaper.
Suso has rapidly risen to prominence at Anfield following the arrival of Brendan Rodgers, with the talented teenager making two Premier League appearances for Liverpool already this term.
Capped at Under 19 level for his country, the talented teenager was hugely impressive in his first Reds start against Norwich City at the weekend, setting up Luis Suarez for his third goal in an emphatic 5-2 victory.
And, if Suso can follow in the footsteps of Alonso at Liverpool, the supporters will be more than happy.
The 30-year-old was a firm fans favourite during five years with Liverpool before a controversial exit in 2009. If Suso can enjoy similar success, then the future looks very bright indeed.
