Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has lavished praise on Manchester City’s Joe Hart, claiming he is currently the best goalkeeper in the world.

The Old Trafford favourite took to Twitter after the Citizens salvaged a draw at home to Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium last night, thanks to a very late Mario Balotelli penalty and Hart’s heroics.

Rooney will be very familiar with Roberto Mancini’s No.1 from their time together with England, yet still seems astonished at the countless saves made by the 25-year-old.

“Have to say joe hart has been incredible. For me best keeper in the world,” he said on the micro-blogging website.

City fans will be thankful for Hart on a night where they were outplayed by the German side and fortunate to come away with a point – it was their first point of the competition so gar and leaves them sitting third in Group D.

It leaves Mancini’s side with a mountain to climb if they are to avoid elimination at the group stage for the second season running.
