Manchester City are ready to rival Manchester United for the signing of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

A report from claims Roberto Mancini is a great admirer of the Chile international and has informed Etihad Stadium bosses to explore the possibility of a transfer

However, the Premier League champions could face competition for his signature from their rivals at Old Trafford, as Sir Alex Ferguson has been credited with an interest in the versatile midfielder.

Vidal was a key player for the Bianconeri last season as they claimed the Scudetto without losing a single game and it the report claims it would take a staggering bid for the Juve hierarchy to consider a sale.

The Serie A champions signed the 25-year-old from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in 2011 for a fee in the region €10.5million on a five-year deal, so the fee Juventus could command would be substantial.

However, the report also claims La Liga giants Real Madrid have shown an interest in Vidal, so a bidding war could be in the offing.
