Steven Gerrard doesn't regret rejecting Chelsea & United
Liverpool transfer news: No regrets for Steven Gerrard after rejecting Chelsea & Manchester United
Steven Gerrard has no regrets over his decision to spend his entire career at Liverpool, despite both Chelsea and Manchester United having shown interest in signing him.
Gerrard has made 593 appearances since making his debut for the Reds in 1998, but has had a number of opportunities to further his career away from Merseyside.
The 32-year-old looked almost certain to join Chelsea shortly after Liverpool had triumphed so dramatically in the final of the Champions League in 2005, but performed a late u-turn and signed a new Reds contract.
Chelsea had come knocking before then, too, but Gerrard managed to twice resist Jose Mourinho's advances, and once more when the Portuguese joined Real Madrid.
Sir Alex Ferguson, meanwhile, was very public with his admiration of Gerrard back in 2004 and Gerrard intimated in a recent interview that the Manchester United had made advances.
Had the England captain moved to Old Trafford eight years ago, he would have been part of four Premier League winning sides, while Chelsea have won the title twice since 2004.
Gerrard, though, says he knows he made the right choice to stay with Liverpool, and has not given up hope of becoming a league winner in the latter stages of his Anfield career.
"I am really happy I stayed. I am the captain of the club I love and this club means more to me than any other club out there.
"Of course I'd love a Premier League winner's medal and that may have happened if I'd moved clubs but would that league title mean as much to me as the other trophies I've won here? No - fact."
