Pep Guardiola is being targeted by AC Milan, who want to stop the former Barcelona coach taking his next job in the Premier League - with Chelsea or Manchester United - reports the Daily Mirror.

The 41-year-old opted to take a 12-month sabbatical when he ended his successful four-year reign at Camp Nou in the summer, but has already been linked with a host of top European clubs.

Guardiola has been tipped to succeed Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, and is believed to fancy a job in England.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich tried and failed to bring the Spaniard to Stamford Bridge before the start of the 2012/13 campaign, choosing instead to give Roberto Di Matteo the job permanently.

Di Matteo is doing a good job in west London, having won the Champions League in May, and currently sits top of the Premier League table after the Blues' flying start to the season.

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi wants to shake up his whole football set-up at the San Siro, and believes Guardiola is the perfect man to succeed current boss Massimiliano Allegri.

The Serie A giants are even considering a move within the next few weeks, in a bid to beat off rival interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, or any other party monitoring Pep's situation.
