Manchester United are weighing up a move for CFR Cluj winger Rafael Bastos, after he excelled in the recent Champions League clash, reports talkSPORT.

The 27-year-old Brazilian has become one of the Romanian club's most important players since arriving in Transylvania in 2010, and has already scored twice in Europe this season.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson was so impressed with Bastos' performance against his side on Tuesday evening, that he's believed to have added him to his January shortlist for a move to Old Trafford.

As speculation continues to gather pace concerning the future of Luis Nani, the South American forward could be seen as a successor in the wide area.

Bastos is under contract at Cluj until 2014, and Ferguson will continue to monitor his displays over the coming months.

He nearly scored against United, but was thwarted by David De Gea, who helped earn the Premier League giants all three points with a 2-1 victory at the Stadionul Dr. Constantin Rădulescu, maintaining the club's perfect start to the 2012/13 Champions League campaign.

Any concerns over Bastos' ability to settle in a new country and culture are needless, due to the fact his career has taken in spells in Portugal and Japan, as well as his native Brazil.
