AC Milan attacker Stephan El Shaaraway, a reported target for Manchester United, was rejected by Juventus as a youngster for being too small.

The 19-year-old Italian has been in impressive form for Milan this season, and has score five goals in his last four appearances for the San Siro side.

El Shaaraway, however, could have instead been plying his trade in Turin, were it not for a rejection from Juventus when the versatile midfielder was a young child.

"He was phenomenal, in a year he scored 132 goals. At the age of six years of age he'd win games by himself. In 32 years as a coach I've never seen someone like that," his junior coach, Dionigi Donati, told Tuttomercatoweb.

"The biggest clubs wanted him, but my dream was for him to play for Juventus. I called them about him. However, they rejected him, saying he was too small."

El Shaaraway's recent form has seen him linked with a move to Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson makes plans to reinforce his ranks at the next available opportunity.

The United boss is reported to have been keeping a close eye on the Italy international's progress with Milan as he continues to impress in Serie A.

However, Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has since moved to quell speculation by stating that the club have no intention of selling their emerging star.

"El Shaarawy is an investment for this club and we are very happy with him," he told Sky Italia.

"Manchester United have fallen in love with him? Our policy is to focus on youngsters and he won't be moving from here."
